Lent & Easter 2021

It is likely that we will not be able to meet together in Church during Lent this year, so here are some resources and ideas to help us celebrate this special time together. Just click the various buttons below

  • Pancake Party!  Join us online at 6pm for an online party with lots of pancakes and games.  This will include a flipping competition – so get practising.

  • If you’re not confident about making pancakes then click the video to watch "Cooking with Ann" and get tips from our very own award-winning cook Ann Dean.

  • This is traditionally a day of penitence – when we come to God in sorrow for our sins.  Not because we are bad people but because all of us fall short of God’s perfection and holiness – join us online at 10am.

  • Download the short service order by clicking the "order of Service" button and use at your convenience.

  • Collect your ash from the Vicarage – it will come with instructions as to how to use – mix with oil NOT water as this could result in burning to the skin.  Normal oil you’d find in the kitchen will be sufficient.

  • The prayer for anointing – and you will either have to anoint yourself or ask someone in your household to help – is “turn away from sin and turn to Christ”.  Have a think about what that means in your life and prepare your heart for the moment of anointing.

  • The church office can send by post both the service and the ash if ordered by 10 February.

  • What will you deliberately fast from (ie give up) this Lent?  And with the deprivation, what will you DO differently to feed your soul or bless others? Tell someone what you are planning to do and make yourself accountable.

  • Join us for morning prayer Monday to Friday at 9am on Zoom – you may only usually come on a Sunday, but this could be an opportunity to start your day with God and your brothers and sisters in Christ – give it a try.

  • You can use one of the #LiveLent booklets from the Church of England that offers a reading and prayer every day.  There are 50 copies available from the Vicarage – just £2 each – you can collect or, if you are shielding, these can be posted.

  • Blessing others – could you actively do something that would bless someone else?  Putting the Valentine’s Day ‘love in action’ idea into practice throughout Lent in a daily act of kindness? There are plenty of ideas on the internet to inspire you.

  • Love yourself through Lent – is a resource to encourage you to look after yourself during Lent.  You can download the photo to your device or print off at A4 or request an A3 poster from the Church Office.

  • Families: 40 challenges to do together – these range from planting seeds to playing a game together - all an encouragement to spend precious time together, being creative.  Again, you can download the photo, print it off or request a poster.

  • The LEGO Lent Challenge! –posted to FB or emailed every other day. If Minecraft is more your thing, use that instead. Contact Rachael to be on the mailing list.

  • Join us for a service online at 9am and 7pm Monday 29th March to Thursday 1st April.

  • Reuse your Holy Week in a Box resource from last year

  • Good Friday - 2nd April – All Age Worship at 10am.

  • Hour at the Cross online– Good Friday 2pm to 3pm.

  • Easter windows to celebrate the resurrection – make sure you only reveal on Easter Day!

  • Buy a Real Easter Egg – order from the Church Office – and give to children who live nearby so they can find out the Easter story, alongside the delicious chocolate – deliver on Easter Day.

  • Send Easter cards to your friends and neighbours – we need hope and light in this dark time – tell them that Christ is Risen!

  • Easter Day All Age Service 10am – join in and we’ll celebrate together.
