What is the Windows to a Greener Future Appeal?

St Andrew’s Community Hub was the worship centre for St Andrew’s Blagreaves until 2023 when the parish of Littleover and Blagreaves merged. It is now a valued Community Hub. The most frequent users are Little Angels’ Preschool, but it is also hired out for regular and one-off bookings.

The building itself is 68 years old. The windows are single glazed and wooden framed. Heat loss in the cold months can be significant. And that has a cost, monetary and environmentally.

We hope to replace the windows with double glazed uPVC frames, and also replace the door, which is in a similar state.

For users like Little Angels, the environment will be much more comfortable. In the longer term we are improving and developing a valued community space.

Tell us about the G2GG digital fundraising campaign.

The Church of England Give to Go Green (G2GG) matched funding scheme, currently only available in selected dioceses, of which Derby is one, is a digital giving campaign to support carbon-reducing projects.

Our St Andrew’s Hub windows project we’ve called Windows to a Greener Future because it is a carbon reducing project. And it will save us money on heating costs.

The digital part means they (G2GG) can keep a closer eye on donations and match the funds more easily and more quickly. Although we can use money given into the general account to support the scheme, we cannot then claim the matched funding- which is why it’s so important to make donations either on-line or via the designated card reader into the specific fund.  Visit www.bit.ly/stpwindows to donate.

When you donate, you will have the opportunity to agree to us recovering Gift Aid on your donation. Gift Aid won’t be matched by the Church of England, but it will go towards the total raised.

How can people be involved?

We need people to support the events, as well as make a donation. If something piques your interest, the best people to ask are probably the Creation Care Team in the first instance or email office@stpeterlittleover.org.uk .

How do people make donations?

Donations need to be digital through this link www.bit.ly/stpwindows.  Giving received through any other route will not be match funded or be able to be distinguished from general giving to St Peter's Church.    In church, and for some events, a specific card reader will be available.
